Charity Influencers: Genuine or for Clout
In today’s social media landscape, “awwwwwn” moments have not just lived their expectations when people give and display these acts on social media, as there are people who believe that such acts are for Clout, If not, “why post it on social media?”
As this essay delves into the discussion, it aims to serve as a platform for education, by inviting readers to elaborate on the “real” motivative behind such posts, this essay seeks to obviously defend that such acts are indeed not for clout and to honestly unravel, the complexities of charity in the digital age.
The Bible says …But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing” (ESV, Matthew 6:3), this is what makes people justify their prideful nature when influencers or certain personalities post on social media they say this is a way of seeking validation and recognition from their online audience.
In hindsight, while the act of giving may be initiated by individuals, the act of charity often relies on collaborative efforts and widespread awareness. Social media platforms serve as powerful tools for getting, to be honest, tangible resources and help to reach a broader audience who can also assist to help this cause. By leveraging the reach of social media, individuals can amplify their impact and inspire collective action, transcending geographical boundaries and fostering a sense of global solidarity.
Also, the importance of authenticity and transparency cannot be overstated. NGOs, Organisations, and notable personalities need to be transparent by documenting this, they provide tangible evidence and transparent documentation of these charity works which not only validates their legitimacy but also instills trust among the audience. Through this evidence and transparent reporting, individuals can counter accusations that question their genuine commitment to making a difference.
In an era where smartphones have become so vast and internet access is increasingly widespread, social media emerges as a platform for inclusivity in charitable endeavors. Facilitating easy communication and outreach, social media platforms help people to be aware that such aids are available, allowing individuals from diverse backgrounds to seek assistance and support. By embracing technology and harnessing the potential of social media, charitable initiatives can reach various communities and bridge existing gaps.
